ABOUT CANCER (1) Allopathic Science Inspired From Ayurveda In ancient times the rishis of vedic discipline have given many methods of treatment which are very similar to modern cancer treatment methods, and also Ayurvedic treatments are without side effects that are widely experienced and feared in allopathic science. Radiation (Swedan):- In allopathy heavy metals (radioactive) are used to give radiation to cancer affected parts of the body. In Ayurveda the Methods are: (i) The tumor is applied with medicated oils and an ointment which is then covered with a metal plate made of different metals including gold silver, copper etc. these plates when applied on the tumor in heated state produce radiation which kills cancerous cells. (ii) Heated pre-medicated oils are poured on the tumor which is one type of radiation. (iii) Medicines are applied on the tumor in the form of a paste bound in bandage and heated, is one type of radiation. (iv) Medicated steam is used in Panchkarma therapy to remove toxins from the body. Surgery:- Like in modern medicine, Ayurveda devotes one whole section on surgery called Sushrut, given by the sage Sushrut. In some cancerous tumors maggots start developing in the tumors when gangrene sets in shushrut has given guidelines for natural surgery of these tumors by maggots by allowing them to eat away the cancerous cells and then through herbal medicines and complex surgical procedures the tumor is naturally healed. Since Ayurveda is much older than modern science, it can be inferred upon that modern allopathic science draws it’s roots from Ayurveda. (2) Cancer: - Effects of Ayurvedic Treatments (i) Ayurvedic treatment in cancer is completely free from side effects. (ii) Food also becomes a part of treatment. (iii) Ayurvedic treatment improves metabolism in the patient. (iv) Increases the digestion power in the body. (v) Rejuvenates the body, increasing the self confidence of the patient. Resulting in positive improvement. (vi) Tumor or the ulcer caused by the cancer gets localized first, reducing the chances of metastasis in other parts or organs, and is subsequently eradicated from the body. (vii) Regular intake of medicines reduces the chances of recurrence. (viii) In a deadly disease like cancer, the patients quality of life improves, adding years and peace to his life. (ix) Compared to modern treatments it is much less expensive and effective. The rate of success depends on the regularity of the patient in intake of medicines and care taken in observance of food and life style. (3) Cancer foods that help:- - Consume cow ghee more - Consume goat milk - Consume sesame oil as a cooking medium. - Sprouted beans, soups of vegetables, nuts, raisins, figs. - Fresh seasonal fruit juices to be consumed more - Special herbal juice therapy is very helpful in controlling cancerous growth. (4) Diet for specific cancers:- - Fat free diet in liver cancers - Water and fluid restricted diet in, ascitis, plural, peritoneal, pericardial cancers - Nuts in brain, bone and blood cancers - Salt free diet in renal cancers. - Non-spiced diet in Gastro Intestinal tract cancers. (5) Food articles to be avoided:- Deep fried foods - Junk and fast foods - Tin packed foods - Spicy foods - Vatta dosha aggravating foods (6) Cancer: - Causes and symptoms Causes - Cancer is caused by improper usage of indriyas or senses in carrying out day to day activities (Improper karmas-deeds). - The cell division- Improper division of cells, due to carcinogenic substances, also causes cancer. - Foods – Improper eating habits can produce cncer. - Tobacco – Smoking either direct or indirect, can cause cancer, chewing of tobacco etc. are known to be carcinogenic. - Alcohol – Consumption of alcohol in abnormal quantities, is known to cause cancer of the liver especially, and all major organs of the body. - Industrial pollutants – Asbestos dust from factories, coal dust in mines, cement in factories and construction work, fumes from foundries, drinking of water from stangant sources, river, wells etc. polluted by these toxic chemicals is known to cause cancer. - Breathing polluted air – Air that contains vehicular smoke, industrial smoke, causes cancers. - Viruses – Some female reproductive organs when affected by viruses, produce cancerous growth. - Genetic factors – Hereditary genetic constitution of the body is also responsible for the production of cancerous growth. - Cancer can take place in any part of the body. According to Ayurveda when ama toxins get accumulated in any part of the body, it takes the form of a tumour or ulcer, which keeps growing. - Liver is responsible for the removal of toxins from the body, if the liver is not functioning properly these toxins start getting accumulated in the body, forming cancerous growth in the body. - When there is imbalance of potassium and sodium in the body it produces cancer. - When the Sapta Dhatus are affected by toxins, cancer is caused. - Repeated growth of tumor in any part of the body causes cancer, and any dosha aggravated for a long duration. Symptoms: - Vocal cords are affected, difficulty in speaking. - Ulcers in the mouth, which are recurrent in nature. - Cough and saliva sometimes contain traces of blood. - Difficulty in swallowing or eating food. - Blood oozing from any part of the body without any explainable reason. - Fever unexplained, for long duration of time. - Reduction in body weight and overall stamina to work. - Tumor or swelling in any part of the body. - Changes in bowel movement habits. - Heavy stomach and pain. - Continuous vomiting, in spite of medicines. - Difficulty in passing stool, bleeding from rectum. - Accidental fracture in bones, difficulty in healing. - Heaviness in the head, nausea, vomiting, uneasiness, sudden may be temporary blindness etc. - Difficulty in passing urine, burning sensations in the urinary tract. - Lack of appetite, and heaviness in stomach. - If you have any of the above or similar symptoms, we strongly recommend a thorough check for possible cancerous growth. (7) Changes in lifestyles: - Improper eating habits: (i) Overeating or eating soon after a full meal. (ii) Water in access quantity during eating (iii) Drinking cold drinks or chilled water during a meal. (iv) Eating when constipated. (v) Eating in-compatible food combinations. (vi) Drugs and Alcohol to be avoided at all costs. - Role of exercise Exercise should also be in harmony with one’s doshic constitution. Normally kapha predominant individuals can undertake the most rigorous of exercise, pitta individuals can undertake medium amount of exercise and vatta individuals the least of the three. Walking or swimming are the best exercises of all. - Choose a balanced lifestyle Emotions of anger, fear, or anxiety, arise from reactions to our daily relationships. These reactions take place due to our inattentive mental state of being. One needs to pay attention to one’s thoughts and emotions, and to create more positive thoughts and emotions, if a person fails to do so the negative emotions will eat up into his physical and mental health. - Meditation and prayer Meditation plays a very important part in a person’s life and is very important in maintaining health. Meditation is watching the mind in clear awareness, without any judgments. Meditation is the art of being in the moment, no past no future, no thoughts. This moment to moment awareness brings a cleansing to the body, mind and consciousness. Joy and peace will be arising more and more, life becomes a spontaneous phenomenon and not a burden. Meditation is a technique of perennial mental and physical health. PANCHKARMA AN INTRODUCTION Ayurveda has prescribed both curative and healing therapies, inclusive of various methods of purification of toxins from the body system as well as rejuvenation of the body. Ayurveda is not just a healing medicine; it is a science of correct living, which helps to achieve disease free and long-peaceful life. Ayurveda guides individuals in the proper choice of diet, living habits and proper exercise, yoga asanas, and postures etc. to achieve balance in the body, mind and consciousness, thus preventing the process of disease, which arises out of imbalance of the body systems. Ayurveda emphasizes that each individual is a unique being, a part and manifestation of the cosmic consciousness, expressed through the five basic elements. Space, air, water, fire, earth. Vatta – a combination of space and air, pitta – a combination of fire and water, and kapha – a combination of water and earth, are termed as the tridoshas. Every individual’s physical and mental, characteristics are derived from these three Doshas. There are seven basic characteristics derived from these three Doshas. They are vatta, pitta or kapha predominant, vatta-pitta, pitta-kapha or kapha-vatta predominant and tridosha meaning all three Doshas. Every individual has his unique signature of Doshas. When all the Doshas are in balance or in harmony, there is order or health in the body, when the balance is disturbed a person is in a state of disease. Balance exists when the digestive fire (agni) is in a balanced condition, the bodily Doshas are in harmony, as a result the body produces waste products normally(urine, feces and sweat), the seven body tissues also function normally (rasa, Rakta, mamsa, meda, Asthi, majja, and sukra). As a result the mind, senses and consciousness are all functioning in a harmony. The health of a person is governed by vatta, pitta and kapha, which are constantly affected by outside factors such as food intake, improper sleeping habits, seasonal changes, repressed emotions, and mental and physical stress etc. these all the factors combined or individually can greatly affect the balance of these Doshas, ultimately resulting in detrimental effects on agni ( gastric fire ) and produces ama (toxins). These toxins enter the blood supply and are subsequently circulated throughout the body, clogging the channels. The accumulation of toxins will weaken the vital body functions resulting in disease. All diseases result from an imbalance of Doshas resulting in Ama (toxins). Therefore health lies in the prevention of ama built up in the body, eliminate whatever is present in the blood supply, and to stop any further production of Ama. The steps include proper diet with appropriate life habits, and exercise along with a cleaning programme known as Panchkarma, it is part of a process called shodhan and shaman. Panchmahabhatuas (The Five Elements) Ayurveda depicts that everything in this universe is made up of five great cosmic elements or building blocks. These are earth, water, fire, air, and space. Earth:- Earth element if the solid manifestation of the cosmic consciousness. In all of creation and in living beings, all solid structures, hard and firm tissues, bones, etc. are derived from earth energy molecular element. All five elements are proportionately present even in single cell being or viruses etc. In a living cell the basic membrane component is earth, inner vacuum is space, water is present in liquid form, D.N.A. and all other chemicals are fire elements, and movement of the cell and movement within it are due to air element. Water:- Is represented as ever changing liquid state of consciousness. As we are aware a large part of all living bodies is made up of water. Movement of water inside living cells and within complex body mechanisms is responsible for the survival and maintenance of human and all living beings. Our blood and other fluids move between our cells and through our vessels, bringing energy, and carrying away wastes, regulating temperature, bringing disease fighters, and carrying messages from one system to another. Fire:- Fire is the power of consciousness that transforms solids into liquids, to gas, and back again. It possesses the power to transform the state of any substance in the universe. Fire element transforms food into energy. It creates the impulses of nervous reactions, our feelings and also our thought process. In human body the solar plexus or the stomach is the seat of fire, and this fire principle regulates body temperature. Fire is also responsible for digestion, absorption and assimilation. It is present in the eyes, therefore we perceive light, and the luster in the eyes is a result of the fire principle. There is fire in the brain as the gray matter, which governs understanding. Air:- t is the gaseous form of consciousness which is mobile and dynamic. Oxygen in living beings is responsible for all energy reactions. It is a key element for fire to take place. Breathing, movement of intestines are governed by air. Yhe movement of thought, desire and will power are also governed by the air principle. Space:- Expanding consciousness is space and it is all inclusive. It is the cocoon that is simultaneously the source of all matter and the space in which it exists. The trigunas Ayurveda has its roots in ancient spiritual texts of India’s “Vedas”. It is not only a science on the physical level, but goes beyond the body to the spiritual level. Ayurveda is a spiritual science to assist one’s journey of life. Ayurvedic spiritual thinking is based upon the fact that we are all growing or traveling to our reunification with god. The concept of three gunas is the base from which we try to understand ourselves emotionally and spiritually. Guna is defined as the quality of nature. Sattva:- Is the quality of purity and integrity. When our mind is in a satvic state, we reflect the purity of god in our beings; we become the seat of the virtues of godhood. Our mind becomes still and quiet reflecting peace and happiness. Rajas:- Is a state of hyperactivity arising out of desires and ambitions. These desires distract us from our true goal in life and lead us to feelings of fear, worry, anxiety, anger resentment and attachment. As a result binding us to the physical life and the drama involved in it. The mind with rajasic tendencies is like the sea disturbed by hurricane winds. Tamas:- Is the state of darkness, and lack of motion (inertia). In tamsic state we completely become unaware of our connection with god, but we fall into animalistic darkness and become harmful to ourselves and to those who come in contact with us. With our animal (dark) nature predominant, we take actions leading to violence, addiction to drugs etc. Tamas is darkness. Dhatus Sapta Dhatus or seven vital tissue elements are the main building blocks of the body, that forms the pillars of nourishment and growth, and at the same time provides the foundation for the body and mind to thrive upon. (I) Rasa Dhatu (fluid):- Rasa or fluid is derived from the digested food, is the very nutritious essence of the food that we eat, and it nourishes each and every cell of the body. (II) Rakta Dhatu (Blood):- Rakta dhatu is the circulating blood particles in the body which acts as a carrier to provide nutrition and energy to all the parts of the body as well as to remove the excreted material from dead cells. It nourishes each and every cell with pure oxygen from lungs for metabolic process to take place and remove the carbon dioxide to keep the cells of the body healthy. (III) Mansa Dhatu (Muscle tissue):- Mansa dhatu is the muscle tissue in the body. It provides support and strength to the bone structure for smooth movement, and also a base for meda dhatu. (IV) Meda Dhatu:- Meda Dhatu consists of meda tissues binding the asthi dhatu, with lubrication. (V) Asthi Dhatu:- Consists of bones, cartiledges. The function of bones is to provide support to majja dhatu and act in harmony with Mansa dhatu to provide motor or movement function to the body. (VI) Majja Dhatu:- Is the yellow and red bone marrow tissue, it’s main function is to fill up the Asthi and to provide fresh blood cells in the circulation. (VII) Shukra Dhatu:- Shukra dhatu is the reproductive element in the body, it also provides vitality to the body tissues. Its main function is to maintain the continuity of life from one creation to another. The Dhatus derive energy from each other, affecting one can influencing other. They structurally design the body. The Doshas functionally provide bioenergy. Mind cooperatively manages the smooth functioning between atman and panchmahabhutatmak (made up of the five great elements) body. Agni Agni is the foundation of digestion. Agni translated from Sanskrit means fire. Agni is responsible for separating the essence of nourishment from food, which the body can utilize as food. Agni helps various tissues of the body to produce secretions, metabolic reactions, and other processes needed to create energy and maintain and repair our body. Agni element also helps to immunize the system, against harmful organisms and toxins. In he body liver is the main seat of Agni. All toxic substances and foreign particles are killed by liver through Agni in the form of WBC in blood. Ojas Ojas is the energy that maintains life. It is the pure energy (abstract) of the food that is properly digested and absorbed. The body is said to be producing Ojas when all the body systems are integrated and working in perfect harmony. Not only your whole body and mind is receiving proper nourishment, you are also feeling joy and calmness. Ojas is produced well when the digestive fire is strong; otherwise the food we consume will become ama. Ojas integrates body, mind and spirit to function as an individual human being. Lack of Ojas makes us vulnerable to different diseases or group of diseases, so ojas should be preserved at all costs, to maintain a healthy body. Malas Malas are waste products of our bodies, and include Purisha (feces), Mutra (Urine), and Sweda (Sweat). Removal of Malas from the body is crucial to good health, doshic imbalances disrupts the flow of malas, creating toxins in the body. Purisha :- Is the waste of the digestive system, after the nutrients have been properly absorbed in the digestive system, what remains behind is Purisa(feces). In the large intestine and is excreted from the body. Pitta and Kapha help digestion and Vatta governs the mobility throughout the process. Mutra:- Is accumulated during the course of biological processes within the human body, urine is formed in the kidneys through the liquid absorbed in blood from the small and large intestines. The whole urinary system, kidneys, bladder and urethra take part in the elimination of urine. The whole process of urine formation is governed by vatta. Sweda:- Sweda is the waste product that is generated during the metabolic changes in the meda dhatu (fatty tissues). It is also responsible for maintaining body temperature. Channels through which the sweat is extracted are known as Sweda-vaha- srota, it is essential that normal excretion of sweat takes place or it may cause serious imbalances. Resulting in various skin and electrolyte ailments. .

gallbladder cancer

Gallbladder cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the gallbladder.

Gallbladder cancer is a rare disease in which malignant (cancer) cells are found in the tissues of the gallbladder. The gallbladder is a pear-shaped organ that lies just under the liver in the upper abdomen. The gallbladder stores bile, a fluid made by the liver to digest fat. When food is being broken down in the stomach and intestines, bile is released from the gallbladder through a tube called the common bile duct, which connects the gallbladder and liver to the first part of the small intestine.

The wall of the gallbladder has 3 main layers of tissue.

·                 Mucosal (innermost) layer.

·                 Muscularis (middle, muscle) layer.

·                 Serosal (outer) layer.

Between these layers is supporting connective tissue. Primary gallbladder cancer starts in the innermost layer and spreads through the outer layers as it grows.

Being female can increase the risk of developing gallbladder cancer.

Anything that increases your chance of getting a disease is called a risk factor. Risk factors for gallbladder cancer include the following:

·                 Being female.

·                 Being Native American.

Possible signs of gallbladder cancer include jaundice, pain, and fever.

These and other symptoms may be caused by gallbladder cancer. Other conditions may cause the same symptoms. A doctor should be consulted if any of the following problems occur:

·                 Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes).

·                 Pain above the stomach.

·                 Fever.

·                 Nausea and vomiting.

·                 Bloating.

·                 Lumps in the abdomen.
